Lots of you have been asking our opinions on the latest foundation launch from Clinique, Beyond Perfecting foundation.
This time of year is usually when we start to see the lightweight foundations or tinted moisturisers hitting the shelves. Clinique have bucked the trend and have launched a pretty heavy duty option for those who don't really do "the natural look".
Presented in a 30ml glass bottle, pretty standard you may say. The applicator wand is this products USP. It is a padded doe foot applicator just like your normal lip gloss wand. The slanted end has a hollow tip so that the liquid sits inside the doe foot as well as coating the outside.
I really liked this applicator. I felt like a tiny person with a giant lip gloss wand but it actually made application and precision really easy.
You can dot on the face in specific areas that you require coverage or use the side of the wand to sweep product all over for a more complete coverage. The slanted tip also allows you to spot conceal easily too.
This foundation is a two in one product of foundation and concealer.
Because of this it is a full coverage, even when dotting onto the skin sparingly it will still give you a flawless, full finish.
It gives a natural/matte texture but not a powdered flat finish.
The foundation is a thick liquid which spreads easily but dries quickly. The best way to apply it is to apply a small amount and then blend before applying to the next area.
Because the finish is more on the matte side it definitely sits better on a normal/combination or oily skin. We tested it on a dry skin but found it did show up dehydration lines and pores. If you have fine lines or wrinkles this foundation will tend to show them up. Less is definitely more when dealing with facial lines.
If your skin type is more on the oily side and you like a total full coverage then it's a winner.
This foundation lasted really well all day. It didn't separate or pool in the oily areas and didn't transfer.
It doesn't actually feel heavy or caked at all, surprisingly lightweight considering the finish.
Beyond Perfecting has no SPF or Titanium Dioxide so there is zero flashback. It photographs really well making it a good choice for a bride who likes a full cover.
There are 21 shades for this foundation. We found the darker shades had more of a golden base resulting in a darker than expected colour.
Beyond perfecting is available online and in store now for £25.00. Definitely go into store to test the colour before purchasing, it's virtually impossible to tell which colour you would need when purchasing online.
